2008 GSDHJA Year-End Pointed Classes/Divisions

 


Achievement Awards:  To qualify for a year end award in Walk/Trot & Long Stirrup, a total of 40 points is necessary. To qualify for a year end award in

Crossrail & Short Stirrup, a total of 50 points is necessary.

WALK/TROT DIVISION 

Open to all junior & amateur.  Judged at the walk/trot.  In eq over rails class, rider to two point over rails (1 x around) & post the trot in between, with diagonals to count around corners but not between rails. Riders may not cross-enter into any other divisions at same show.  Riders who have competed in classes requiring canter for more than 1 season are not eligible to ride in Walk/Trot.

CROSSRAIL HUNTERS

To jump fences 1'0”.  Open to all junior & amateur riders.  Simple changes of lead will NOT be penalized.  Riders may not cross enter into any division with fences 2’3” or higher.  Riders who have competed at 2’3 or above are not eligible to ride in Crossrails.

SHORT STIRRUP HUNTERS & EQUITATION

To jump fences 1’6”-2’0”.  Open to riders 12 & under.  Fences must be set up as a course in order to qualify (w/o oxers).  Riders may not cross enter into pony hunters, or any division with fences 2’6 or higher.  Riders who have competed at 2’6 or above are not eligible to ride in the Equitation portions of Short Stirrup.

LONG STIRRUP HUNTERS & EQUITATION

To jump fences 1’6”-2’0”.  Open to riders 13-17 & adult amateurs 18 & over.  Fences must be set as a course in order to qualify (w/o oxers). Riders may not cross enter into pony hunters, or any division with fences 2’6 or higher.  Riders who have competed at 2’6 or above are not eligible to ride in the Equitation portions of Long Stirrup.

 

Hunter Division Awards:

GREEN RIDER HUNTERS - 12 & under

GREEN RIDER HUNTERS - 13-17

GREEN RIDER HUNTERS - 18 & over

To jump fences 2’3”. Open to riders 12 & under, 13-17 & amateurs 18 & over, respectively.  Riders may not cross enter into any division with fences 2’9 or higher.  Riders also competing at 2’6 may only enter Green Rider Hunters if they are in their 1st season of showing at 2’6”.  Points are awarded to the rider, rather than the horse in this division.

PONY HUNTERS

To jump fences 2’3” (small & medium ponies) or 2’6”-2’9” (large ponies).  Open to all ponies & riders 17 & under. Riders may not cross enter into any division with fences 3’3 or higher.

LOW CHILDRENS HUNTERS - 12 & under

LOW CHILDRENS HUNTERS - 13-17

LOW ADULT AMATEUR HUNTERS - 18 & over

To jump fences 2’6”. Open to riders 12 & under, 13-17 & amateurs 18 & over, respectively.  Riders may not cross enter into any hunter division with fences 3’0 or higher, or jumper division with fences 3’3 or higher.

CHILDREN’S HUNTERS - 12 & under

CHILDREN’S HUNTERS - 13-17

ADULT AMATEUR HUNTERS - 18 & over

To jump fences 2’9”.  Open to riders 12 & under, 13-17 & amateurs 18 & over, respectively. Riders may not cross enter into any hunter division with fences 3’3 or higher, or jumper division with fences 3’6 or higher.

MODIFIED JUNIOR/AMATEUR HUNTERS

To jump fences 3’0”. Open to all junior & amateur riders.  Riders may not cross enter into any Jr/Am division with fences 2’6 or less.

JUNIOR/AMATEUR WORKING HUNTERS

To jump fences 3’3”. Open to all junior & amateur riders. Riders may not cross enter into any Jr/Am division with fences 2’9 or less.

BABY GREEN HUNTERS

To jump fences 2’6”.  Open to horses that have not shown over fences 2’9” or higher prior to the current show year. 

PRE-GREEN HUNTERS

To jump fences 2’9”-3’0”.  Open to horses that have not shown over fences 3’3” or higher prior to the current show year.

LOW HUNTERS

To jump fences 3’0”.  Open to all horses & riders.  Horses may not cross enter into Baby Green Hunters.

MODIFIED WORKING HUNTERS

To jump fences 3’3”.  Open to horses & riders. Horses may not cross enter into Baby Green or Pre-Green Hunters.

WORKING HUNTERS

To jump fences 3’6”.  Open to horses & riders. Horses may not cross enter into Baby Green or Pre-Green Hunters.

 

Equitation Awards:  Year-End awards will be given for each age group based on the total number of points earned in Open Equitation Flat & Equitation Over Fences combined.

OPEN EQUITATION FLAT 11 & under

OPEN EQUITATION FLAT 12-13

OPEN EQUITATION FLAT 14-17

OPEN EQUITATION FLAT 18 & over - Open to all adult amateur riders.

EQUITATION OVER FENCES 11 & under.  To jump fences 2’3”.

EQUITATION OVER FENCES 12-13.  To jump fences 2’6”.

EQUITATION OVER FENCES 14-17.  To jump fences 2’9”.

EQUITATION OVER FENCES 18 & over.  To jump fences 2’9”.

 

GSDHJA Medals:     OPEN TO GSDHJA MEMBERS ONLY, junior & adult amateur riders.  Minimum of (3) riders must compete for class to count.  Total of (6) points are necessary to qualify for finals.  Once a rider has accumulated 12 or more points, they may not compete again until the finals.  Riders accumulating 6 or more points in a medal class shall receive a GSDHJA medal at the Awards Banquet.  See website for point scale (gsdhja.org).

GSDHJA GREEN RIDER MEDAL

All entries to jump a medal type course of fences 2’3” including at least two changes of direction.  A work-off is at judge’s discretion.  Except for the Finals, riders may cross enter the GSDHJA Mini Medal at the same show. Riders competing at 2’6 may only enter Green Rider Medal if they are in their first season of showing at 2’6”.

GSDHJA MINI MEDAL

All entries to jump a medal type course of fences 2’6”.  Course will incorporate 2 standard tests (tests #1-7), and include at least two changes of direction.  No addition testing or work-off is necessary.  Except for the Finals, riders may cross enter the GSDHJA Green Rider Medal at the same show.  Riders may not cross enter the GSDHJA Medal at the same show, including the Finals. 

GSDHJA ADULT AMATEUR MEDAL

All entries to jump a medal type course of fences 2’9”, and include at least two changes of direction.  Addition testing or work-off is at the judges discretion.  Except for the Finals, riders may cross enter the GSDHJA Green Rider Medal or 3’0 Medal at the same show. 

California Horsetrader

GSDHJA MEDAL

All entries to jump a medal type course of fences 3’0” including at least two changes of direction.  A work-off is mandatory for at least the top 4 riders, if possible. Riders may not cross enter the GSDHJA Mini Medal at the same show, including the Finals. Riders who have participated in any medal finals in which the fences exceeded 3’3” within the past 5 years may not compete in the GSDHJA Medal or Finals. 

Equine Vet Services

GSDHJA FLAT MEDAL

All entries will work collectively on the flat and will be asked to demonstrate at least six advanced flat work skills such as: lengthening and/or collection of stride, counter canter (no more than 12 at a time), turn on the haunches, turn on the forehand, work without irons and/or other tests deemed appropriate by the judge. 

 

Jumper Awards:

PONY JUMPERS

To jump fences 2’3”-2’6”.  Open to ponies & riders 17 & under.  Riders may not cross enter into any division with fences 3’3 or higher.

LOW CHILDREN’S/ADULT AMATEUR JUMPERS

To jump fences 2’6” with up to a 2’6” spread. Open to all junior & adult amateur riders.  Riders may not cross enter into any division with fences 3’3 or higher.

CHILDREN’S JUMPERS

To jump fences 2’9”-3’0” with up to a 3’0” spread.  Open to all riders 17 & under.  Riders may not cross enter into any division with fences 3’6 or higher.

ADULT AMATEUR JUMPERS

To jump fences 2’9”-3’0” with up to a 3’0” spread.  Open to adult amateur riders 18 & over.  Riders may not cross enter into any division with fences 3’6 or higher.

MODIFIED JUNIOR/AMATEUR JUMPERS

To jump fences 3’3” with up to a 3’3” spread.  Open to all junior & adult amateur riders.  Riders may not cross enter into any Jr/Am division with fences 2’6 or under.

JUNIOR/AMATEUR JUMPERS

To jump fences 3’6” with up to a 3’6’” spread.  Open to all junior & adult amateur riders.   With the exception of the GSDHJA Medal, riders may not cross enter into any Jr/Am division with fences 3’0 or under.

3’0” OPEN JUMPERS

To jump fences 3’0” with up to a 3’0” spread.  Open to all riders.

3’6” OPEN JUMPERS

To jump fences 3’6” with up to a 3’6” spread.  Open to all riders.

3’9”- 4’0” OPEN JUMPERS

To jump fences 3’9”-4’0” with up to a 4’0” spread.  Open to all riders.

 

Overall High Point Awards:

HIGH POINT EQUITATION RIDER

Award presented to the rider accumulating the most points in Open Equitation Flat & Equitation Over Fences classes.

HIGH POINT JR/AM RIDER AWARD

Award presented to the Jr/Am rider accumulating the most points in the 2’3 and above Hunter & Jumper Jr/Am divisions combined.

HIGH POINT PROFESSIONAL RIDER AWARD

Award presented to the professional rider accumulating the most points in the Open Hunter & Jumper divisions combined.

HIGH POINT TRAINER AWARD

Award presented to the trainer whose riders & horses accumulate the most points collectively in the Achievement, Jr/Am, Equitation & Medals combined. 

 

FLAT CLASSES: Horses showing in just the flat portion of a division must also follow the same cross entry restrictions as in over fences portion.  ‘Catch’ Riders in flat portion of any Jr/Am division must meet the specifications for the division.  Riders listed on multiple horses in any one flat class will only be awarded points towards High Point Awards for the horse who places the highest in the class.

 

MEDAL CLASSES: Open to GSDHJA members only.  All past GSDHJA medal finals winners are ineligible to compete in that class.

 

ALL EQUITATION CLASSES & GREEN RIDER HUNTERS:  Riders may not compete on multiple horses in these classes at the same show.
