The upcoming Signature Show at Galway Downs will be June 21-22! A new feature this year will be select hunter and equitation classes (those 2’9” and higher) to be held on the grass hunter field, which is located adjacent to the grass jumper field. There will be a $500 Hunter Derby on the grass as well as a $500 Mini Prix on the grass jumper field, where all jumper classes will be held. All GSDHJA Medals will be held each day and the show is also approved by the Orange County Horse Shows Association and the Inland Empire Hunter Jumper Association.
The Sweetwater show tomorrow has been cancelled. The next show will be June 29th.
Just wanted to let everyone know Sweetwater is still on for this coming Sunday, May 18th BUT SCHC at Rancho Riding Club has been canceled.
The GSDHJA Board recently updated the way qualifying points are awarded for Medals. In a nutshell, more points are now awarded if you competed in a large class with many riders.
First, I would like to thank you and all those involved in organizing the Greater San Diego Championship Show. It was an incredible experience that I will always hold dear to my heart. As a young 13 year old I dreamed of participating in English horse shows and winning ribbons.
Now as a 59 year old mother of three adult girls I have been able to pursue my dream of learning to ride English and showing. My first show last year was at Sycamore stables and I was so incredibly nervous that my coat was sopping wet. I will admit I did feel just a tad bit out of place. This old lady on a big horse next to these adorable young riders with many on beautiful ponies….
As the volunteer maintainer of the computer code and website here at GSDHJA, I just wanted to recognize the overworked Amy Drinco of Hunter Valley and the rest of the GSDHJA Board for all their work in running the GSDHJA. As a non-profit all volunteer organization (unlike, say USEF), this little regional horse association does A LOT.
It maintains one of easiest to use yearly point tracking systems (sorry we are late right now with the December and January points – we are looking to revamp how Medal points are awarded – they should be up in about a week).
It runs THE BEST year end championship show that I have ever seen. With THE BEST PRIZES. Both at the show and year end.
It runs a wonderful yearly awards banquet.
It fosters good solid competition without having to pay 2-3 times as much for show fees as on the “A” circuit.
It even mails out awards to you (while enduring people questioning the $10 or $20 fee to do so).
ALL money collected in show fees, banquet fees and champ show fees goes back to competitors in the form of prizes (except for direct expenses like postage, Internet hosting, etc.).
So THANK YOU GSDHJA!
